A power trowel [also known as a "power float", "helicopter" or "trowel machine"] is a piece of light construction equipment used by construction companies and contractors, to apply a smooth finish to concrete slabs. Power trowels differ in the way they are controlled:

Ride-On power trowels are used by an operator sitting on a seat upon the machinery, controlling the power trowel with the necessary buttons.
Walk-Behind power trowels are used by an operator walking behind the machine.

In construction, there are three main types of compactor; the plate compactor, the "Jumping Jack" and the road roller. The roller type compactors are used for compacting crushed rock as the **** layer underneath concrete or stone foundations or slabs. The plate compactor has a large vibrating ****plate (vibrator motor) and is suited for creating a level grade, while the jumping jack compactor has a smaller foot. The jumping jack type is mainly used to compact the backfill in narrow trenches for water or gas supply pipes etc. Road rollers may also have vibrating rollers.
In England the **** "wacker plate" or just "wacker" is commonly used to refer to plate compactors, derived from the **** of Wacker Construction Equipment AG, a well-known manufacturer of such devices. The **** is pronounced in the English style as whacker as opposed to the correct German vacker. A "Jumping Jack" compactor is colloquially referred to as "Paddy's Motorbike", due to the traditional resource of Irish construction labourers, and the way that the operator appears to "ride" the hammer holding the handles like a motorcycle.

Aluminium foil is aluminium prepared in thin ****l leafs, with a thickness less than 0.2 mm / 0.008 in, although much thinner gauges down to 0.006 mm are commonly used. Foils are commonly gauged in Mils. The foil is extremely pliable, and can be bent or wrapped around objects with ease. However, thin foils are fragile and easily damaged, and are often laminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. It replaced tin foil in the mid 20th century.

Annual production of aluminium foil was approximately 800,000 tonnes in Europe and 600,000 tonnes (1.3 billion lbs) in the USA in 2003. Approximately 75% of aluminium foil is used for packaging of foods, cosmetics, and chemical products, and 25% used for industrial applications (eg. thermal insulation, cables and electronics).

In North America, aluminium foil is known as aluminum foil, and sometimes alternatively as al-foil or alu-foil. It is also often called Reynolds wrap after Reynolds ****ls, the leading manufacturer in North America. ****llised films are sometimes mistaken for aluminium foil, aluminum coil, but are actually polymer films coated with a thin layer of aluminium sheet.
