Al Jazeera in $2.75bn ART channels deal
A deal worth $2.75 billion (Dh10.1bn) has been signed between Al Jazeera Sport and Arab Radio and Television (ART) to purchase six sports channels from ART. The contract will come into effect on December 1.
ART's sport channels, which specialise in broadcasting the Saudi Arabian soccer league, will remain under the ownership of ART, according to shorouknews.com.
Also, the exclusive broadcasting rights to tour****nts owned by ART sport channels will begin to be transferred to Al Jazeera Sport starting with the Fifa Club World Cub that will be held in December in Abu Dhabi.
Negotiations between Al Jazeera Sport and ART have been going on over the past few months.
